Pregnancy Loss: How to support this type of grief at work

Thursday 6th March: 12 pm - 1 pm

Many people view the loss of a pregnancy as a profound grief, regardless of how far along the pregnancy was. However, the grief associated with early pregnancy loss is often overlooked. Miscarriage is frequently considered a taboo topic and is rarely recognized socially as a legitimate form of bereavement. This lack of recognition can lead individuals to suppress their emotions and experience delayed grief. This session, conducted by MIST Workshops, will explore this type of loss and provide insights on how we can effectively support colleagues who are dealing with this ambiguous form of bereavement.

Pregnancy Loss & The psychological impact on partners

Thursday 12th June: 12 pm - 1 pm

Partners often experience the loss of a pregnancy as a profound bereavement, yet they frequently do not receive adequate social recognition for their grief. Often positioned in a supportive role, partners may encounter disenfranchised and delayed grief. In this session, MIST Workshops present current research on the impact of pregnancy loss on partners, providing guidance on ways to better support male colleagues/partners who are affected by this issue in the workplace.

Tuesday 29th April: 12 pm - 1 pm

Pregnancy loss can lead to considerable psychological implications, including clinical mental health illnesses, such as anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Unfortunately, women often do not receive formal diagnoses or adequate support. This session will provide delegates with an opportunity to examine current research in this area and identify ways to better support colleagues experiencing these challenges at work.
